2. ROYAL REGIMENT OF SCOTLAND (2006-present)

The Royal Regiment of Scotland is the senior and only British line infantry regiment of the British Army Infantry. Formed in 2006, the Regiment consists of four regular and two reserve battalions, plus an incremental company.

The history of the Royal Regiment of Scotland is based on the outstanding achievements of 14 famous Scottish infantry regiments, some of the most famous and highly decorated units in Army history. These date back to the 17th and 18th centuries.

Always loyal to their country and the cause, Scottish soldiers have taken great pride in their roots and generation after generation has followed in the footsteps of their fathers, and their fathers’ fathers, into the same regiments.

The Royal Regiment of Scotland is comprised of the following battalions:-

The Royal Scots Borderers (1 SCOTS) – Role: Light Infantry; Army Regulars.
The Royal Highland Fusiliers (2 SCOTS) – Role: Light Infantry; Army Regulars.
The Black Watch (3 SCOTS) – Role: Light Infantry; Army Regulars.
The Highlanders (4 SCOTS) – Role: Armoured Infantry; Army Regulars.
Balaklava Company (5 SCOTS) – Role: Public Duties; Incremental.
52nd Lowland Battalion (6 SCOTS) – Role: Army Reserve.
51st Highland Battalion (7 SCOTS) – Role: Army Reserve.
